The Black List
Here is a short list of casinos to avoid if
you plan on dice setting / precision shooting. Due to the downturn in the economy,
and the subsequent drop in travel, many of the casinos listed below have been more
friendly to precision shooters. I would expect them to return to their old ways as
the economy begins to rebound......
One additional note. You may or may NOT
receive heat at the casinos below. It really is dependent on who's working and what
time of day it is. This list is merely a recommendation of casinos to perhaps avoid.
Color Code:
Red = Do Not Patronize
Yellow = Protect Your Bankroll Until You Know You'll Shoot
Without Interference
Bill's Casino -
South Tahoe
The No Dice Setting Policy is public (but of course, not posted on the tables) and
enforced. Add to that, lousy dealers and a general lack of common courtesy (Stickmen
deliver the dice to the shooter as "7" after the point has been established.
Poor form) makes this casino, not only one to avoid, but one which you should tell
EVERYONE (even random rollers) to avoid.
Biltmore Casino -
North Tahoe
Enforcing a No Dice Setting policy. (submitted by Bob, 2/2002)
Boardwalk Casino - Las Vegas
I've been told that they once allowed you to set, but no longer.
Nugget - Carson
City
No setting allowed. (submitted by Bill,
2/2002)
Golden Nugget -
Las Vegas
In recent months, the Golden Nugget has made it plain that dice influencers are not
welcome.
Pioneer Casino,
Laughlin NV
A sweat joint to begin with, the Pioneer also regularly makes dice influencers unwelcome.
Slots O Fun - Las
Vegas
I wouldn't go in this casino just because of
the dumb name but I'm told, No setting allowed.
Suncoast - Las
Vegas
This property has turned into a sweat house. Any decent hands will get heat quickly.
Dice influencers have been permanently banned here.
Virgin River
Casino - Mesquite
There is actually a "No Dice Setting" sign here and the pit follows through
enforcing the policy!
The Westward Ho -
Las Vegas
The dice must be thrown from the set that the stickman sends them to you. No
precision shooting makes Westward Ho a Westward NO!
Wild West - Las
Vegas
There is actually a "No Dice Setting" sign here and the pit follows through
enforcing the policy! (submitted by Roadrunner 9/01)
Binions
Horseshoe - Las Vegas
Is somewhat shift dependent as to whether they will allow setting or not but becoming less
and less tolerant. Very sad as this used to be "the" place to play craps
downtown. In recent months, the heat has subsided, but the tables have been
recovered and are extremely bouncy.
Californian - Las
Vegas
If you have a long hand, expect some heat. Not unbearable, but heat nonetheless.
This is somewhat odd as the longest craps hand ever recorded occurred here.
Casino De Montreal
- Montreal Canada
Allows setting the dice but is very strict with calling a "No Roll" if at least
one die does not hit the wall.
Claridge - Atlantic City
There are particular shifts that give shooters
difficulty here..
Clearwater -
Poulsbo Washington
Imposed no setting policy in January
2001. Dayshift is very strict on the policy, nightshift is more relaxed about the
policy.
Flamingo - Las
Vegas
Bouncy tables and a pit staff which frequently applies subtle and not-so-subtle heat.
Four Queens - Las
Vegas
Is unpredictable as to whether you'll be able to shoot without interference here.
Frontier - Las
Vegas
This casino may move into Code Red area soon. HEAVY heat if you miss the back wall
with both dice just once.
Golden Gate
Casino - Las Vegas
Monstrous (24 player) tables make this a casino to avoid. Even
if you decide to brave the long tables, the pit will come down on you for setting the
dice.
Grand Victoria -
Elgin
Once a pretty good place to play, A small group of players have made themselves pests
here, and therefore you will frequently get heat here now. Very shift specific.
Imperial Palace -
Las Vegas
What used to be a dice setters paradise... The low stakes tables were great for apprentice
precision shooters. Expect some heat now.
Palace Stations - Las Vegas
Lot's of grumbling from the box here if you have a long hand. Seem to sweat the
money quite a bit and are not subtle about applying heat to the shooter. (Stick waving,
boxman jumping out his seat as you throw the dice etc.)
The Riviera - Las
Vegas
Rude dealers make this one to avoid. They even hassle the random rollers....
Sahara - Las
Vegas
It has been reported that you will get heat here for setting the dice.
San Remo -
Las Vegas
Rude dealers and some heat for precision shooting.
Showboat -
Atlantic City
Will complain if your roll lasts too long. Toking dealers helps here. (submitted by
David, 2/2002)
Texas Station -
Las Vegas
Have recently begun applying heat to setters.
I hope to make this list more substantial. Your
input is imperative. If you know of a casino with a no setting/precision
shooting policy, or that allows it but the casino heat makes it difficult, or
if you have updates/ changes to casinos listed here, e-mail me at
ed@dicesetter.com and I'll add it to
the list. Thanks!
