LessonFour
The Come Bet
This lesson will be relatively short. For
the most part you already know how to make a Come bet, you just have to see
it here to know it. The reason is because the Come bet performs
almost exactly like a Pass Line bet. It has the same house odds and all the
same rules, except for one. That one rule is; a Come bet can only be made
after a point is established. Because a Come bet wins on natural
7 on the
first roll upon placing the bet, the 7 also ends the game. “7-Out
is the call, take the line, pay the Don’t, last Come gets some.” The
stickman announces this
to inform the dealers that the game is over and they need to collect the losing bets and then
pay the winners. The Don’t bets and the last Come bet, which is still in the
Come field, are the winning bets to be paid.
I heard what you said, but the game ends
when we win? Yes and let’s get into the explanation now and eliminate the
confusion.

Ø
After a point is established,
you may make a Come bet by placing a bet in the Come field.
Ø
The Come bet, like a Pass
Line bet, wins on 7 or 11 on the
first roll after it is bet.
Ø
A Come bet loses to 2, 3,
12 craps, on the first roll after it is bet.
Ø
Any other number rolled is a
box number, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, and
the dealer will move your Come bet from the Come field an place it in the
box of the corresponding number. Your bet is positioned in the box number
according to your table position. This is how the dealer is able to keep
track of the bets.
Ø
The Come bet wins when the
number that the Come bet is on repeats before a
7 rolls. Should the
7 roll the bet loses and the game ends.
7-out! (The exception would be for a
7 to roll on a Come Out. Come bet do lose, but the game continues
because 7 on a Come Out is a winning
roll for the Pass Line betters.)
Ø
A Come bet is a second bet if
you already have a Pass Line bet working.
Placing Odds on a Come Bet
Once you have a Come bet on a box number, you
are allowed to take (free) odds. Just like the Pass Line bet. It is
recommended that you take double odds only. Unlike the Pass Line bet, where
you are the one moving chips around, the odds for a Come bet are moved by
the dealer. Politely getting the dealer attention, waiting your turn, in a
clear and loud voice, say “Odds on my Come bet or Odds on my "8"…"
and say the
number (8) for example to help identify your Come bet. You then place the chips down
on the layout in the Come field for the dealer to pick up and the dealer
will place the odds on top of
your Come bet. The odds portion will be slightly off center to that of the
Come bet. See the example in photo 5-B. Now you wait until either the number
repeats or a 7 rolls which will end the game.

The Come bet pays exactly like a Pass Line bet.
The Come bet is paid even money and the odds portion is paid true odds.
House advantage .4%

One Little Thing
One thing to know about a Come bet on a
Come Out roll is that it is working. This means a
7 on a Come roll causes the Come bet to
lose. However, the odds portion of the Come bet are off,
not working and the dealer will return the odds to you on a losing Come
bet. Should the Come bet number roll on a Come out, then, the Come bet wins and is paid even money. Since, the odds are not on or
working, the dealer simply returns the odds back to you without a profit.
Last thing, when a Come wins, the dealer
gives you the winning pay off plus the Come bet with the odds back to you. A
Come bet does not stay up after winning. It is a one shot deal. This means,
if you want another Come bet you have to make one.
Let’s Review the Come Bet
The Come bet is similar to the Pass Line
bet in the way it is played and paid. A Come bet is working on a Come out
roll but the free odds are not. Once a Come bet wins, it is taken down by
the dealer with the
pay off and handed back to the player. You can make as many Come bets as you
have bankroll for, up to one Come bet per box number.
(Not
Recommended though)

This concludes lesson four. In lesson
Five
we are going to learn about the Don’t Come bet. Want to make a bet what it
is like? "Seven Out, Line away, last Come gets some, pay the Don'ts!"
