May I Introduce You To The Game Of Dice?

A Journey of How To Play the Game

When I first set out to learn how to play craps, I had a naive attitude that the game was easy and that just by showing up to play, the other players would take me under their wing. You know what I mean? "Isn't obvious I don't know how to play, somebody help me here! What do I do?"  I still remember my first game. Nobody took me under their wing. The only thing "taken under," was my money. That was not fun!

I read books and asked a few guys to give me advice. What I discovered, was that the books really did not present the material in a simple manner, and the guys did not really know the game. Funny, I thought playing dice was innate male behavior. (A secret here. I have since discovered that women actually are naturally better at dice than the blokes.)

It is my intention to not compound the game here with all the math and complexities of play. I subscribe to an old philosophy, KISS, "Keep it Simple Sweetie!" I do not wish for others to have the negative experience that I had trying to learn the game. The lessons are designed to be complete enough so the reader will be prepared to play at the completion of this study course. It is my goal to keep the lessons simple enough so that those of you (women and men) new and not so new, can benefit from the lessons in this short but concise presentation. In truth, the game is really not as difficult as it may appear.

The game of craps is just a series of movements not so different from that of a choreographed dance. In order to be able to dance, you have to know the steps or the language of the dance.

I have created a glossary for you to refer to and study as you journey through these lessons.

Understanding a dice game, means learning a new language to go with it. Without a working knowledge of the language, you will not be able to understand what is going on let alone communicate your needs with the operators of the game. Think of it as going to a foreign country and not speaking the language. You may get around okay, but when it comes time for supper, you may not get what you want to eat. I have included as complete of a language list as necessary, in order to help you to move from lesson to lesson. The game is full of slang and I know some of it may have slipped by my list. However, I feel that what is provided here will more than meet your required needs to learn the game and to play with confidence.

You will need a working command of the words highlighted in blue found in the glossary to gain maximum benefit from this study course. You may wish to print out the glossary and have it with you on your journey as you move through the lessons. Having a command of the language, allows you to  quickly assimilate the installments that follow.

Your experience here is designed in short, thorough presentations. The intention of these lessons is to make it possible for you to learn enough about playing craps that you can actually go to a casino and enjoy your first game. If you already have experience playing the game, it is hoped that you will learn something new and that the lessons reinforce the knowledge which you already possess.

Craps is this most exciting game offered by a casino. More than just gambling, the game is a mix of laughter, alter ego, reflection, camaraderie and energy.  It is the energy of the game and of life. There is more to the game than meets the eye. I hope to give you enough of a glimpse here to enjoy a craps game.

Enjoy Your Journey!

In the mean time, study the Language of the game with the glossary.
